313 - Master of the Broom

Hello Quinn

QUINN:
Hey Io, yer lookin’ a bit posh.

IO:
What’s posh mean?

QUINN:
Fancy.

IO:
Oh? This is Zyfan’s. I had on Jesse’s clothes but then Karanthir
had me try on his. They were too tight, so Zyfan gave me this.

QUINN:
Right - and that’s workin’ fer ya?

IO:
I don’t think so. I like the bright colors, but the sleeves
keep getting in my way. It’s all too flow-ie.

QUINN:
Yer welcome to try on one of me kilts if ya like
- but why not just go shopping for yer own things?

IO:
Shopping?

QUINN:
Aye. Just go to some stores and try on whatever ya fancy.
Are ya tellin’ me Daprima hasn’t taken ya shopping?
Init one of her favorite things?

IO:
I don’t know. Do you think I should ask her?

QUINN:
Aye. Why borrow when ya can wear yer own. 

IO:
I will speak with Daprima. Thank you Quinn. 

QUINN:

No worries. So I have news - me dad wants me to come visit,
so I’m off to the Elvin realm.

IO:
You’re leaving?

QUINN:
Just for a couple o’ weeks. Oh donnae look like that
I ain’t goin’ till the weekend.

IO:
Your dad is Trey?

QUINN:
Aye, ya know him?

IO:
Yes. He was a teacher at Magick School, and he dated Es. 

QUINN:
Did he now? Well what do ya know ‘bout that.

QUINN:
... Anyhow, now he’s some sort of archeologist - a real
Indiana Jones bloke. He’s on a dig lookin’ for magical bits and
wants me to help out. Hey -  maybe you can come too?

IO:

Me?

QUINN:

And why not? I mean, what have ya been doin’ since you got freed?

IO:
I wait for Grace to need me.

QUINN:
She’s a wee demanding for sure. The thing is - have ya ever
thought  about what ya wanna do with yerself? Like - for work?

IO:
Work?

QUINN:
Aye, I mean a job.

IO:
Oh that. Mez took me to his job at the flower shop. I liked how
it smelled. He showed me how to sweep the floor. I didn’t
understand any of the other stuff he showed me.

IO:

… Then Vanni tried to teach me how to hang art in his gallery,
but I wasn’t good at it. So he asked me to sweep the floor. 

QUINN:
Right. Hey I know - how ‘bout I get Lu to bring you to Magick
School? Ya could help out at the library and all.

IO:

I love books.

QUINN:

Aye ya do, and if it all becomes too much ya could always
sweep the floor for her.

IO:
I could do that, Vanni said that I’ve  mastered the  broom.

QUINN:
Gr-date. And in the meantime, think about comin’ with me to me dad’s.

IO:

I will. Thank you Quinn.
